Vision for Instruction

Let Your Light Shine

At Lumen Christi Catholic Primary School, our Vision for Instruction ensures every child is known, valued, supported and challenged to flourish as a learner.

Guided by our vision, “To be guided by faith, uplifted with hope and inspired to shine,” we believe every child is created with unique gifts and potential. Our role as educators is to nurture these gifts through high-quality teaching, strong relationships and a commitment to every student’s growth.

Our motto, “Let Your Light Shine,” reminds us that every child has the capacity to grow, achieve and contribute positively to our community and the wider world.

In our classrooms, learning is clear, purposeful and responsive to the individual needs of every student. We combine care with high expectations, ensuring all learners are supported to develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

What This Looks Like

Clear. Structured. Purposeful.

  • Explicit teaching of reading, writing and mathematics
  • Structured literacy instruction and evidence-informed teaching practices
  • Daily opportunities to build fluency, confidence and understanding
  • Clear explanations, modelling and guided practice
  • Regular feedback that supports improvement and growth
  • Calm, consistent and engaging learning environments

We do not leave learning to chance. We intentionally teach, support and inspire every learner to reach their potential.

Guided by Faith. Uplifted with Hope. Inspired to Shine.

At Lumen Christi, learning is about more than academic achievement. It is about forming the whole person and nurturing students who are compassionate, capable and confident contributors to the world.

We believe:

  • every child can learn and experience success
  • early support and intervention enable students to flourish
  • students should be challenged and extended to achieve their personal best
  • positive relationships and a sense of belonging are essential to learning
  • safe, inclusive and respectful environments allow every child to shine.

When students feel known, supported and valued, they are empowered to grow.

Why This Matters

Aligned with MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World, our Vision for Instruction supports students to develop:

  • strong foundations in literacy and numeracy
  • confidence, curiosity and a love of learning
  • positive learning behaviours and resilience
  • the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to contribute meaningfully to society.

Through our mission, we are:

Called to Learn — developing knowledge, wisdom and a commitment to personal growth.

Called to Belong — creating a community where every person is valued, respected and connected.

Called to Hope — nurturing faith, optimism and belief in the possibilities ahead.

At Lumen Christi Catholic Primary School, we are guided by faith, uplifted with hope and inspired to shine—forming learners who flourish.
