At Lumen Christi Catholic Primary School, Religious Education is at the heart of our identity as a Catholic learning community. As part of the Parish of Laverton, we strive to be a living faith community that celebrates, serves and prays together.
Religious Education is a vital dimension of learning across the curriculum and is guided by the Archdiocese of Melbourne Religious Education Framework. Through rich and engaging learning experiences, students are invited to explore life’s big questions in dialogue with Scripture, Catholic tradition and contemporary understanding.
Our teachers use inquiry and dialogue to encourage students’ wondering and questioning, helping them to deepen their understanding of self, others, the world and God. In partnership with families and parish, we nurture the spiritual growth of every child and witness to the Good News in our daily interactions.
At Lumen Christi, we aim to:
- Develop a deep appreciation of the richness of the Catholic tradition
- Build religious self-understanding and spiritual awareness
- Encourage openness to faith-filled questioning and reflection
- Foster respect for the diversity of voices within our community and wider society
- Promote discernment and action inspired by Gospel values
- Support active participation in prayer, liturgy, Mass and the sacraments
- Be authentic witnesses of what it means to live as a Catholic Christian community
Through prayer, celebration and service, we empower our students to live as people of hope, compassion and courage — shining as the Light of Christ in the world.
