Our Vision
At Lumen Christi Catholic Primary School, Physical Education supports the development of the whole child. Through active participation, students build confidence, coordination, movement skills, resilience and an understanding of the importance of lifelong health and wellbeing.
Our program encourages students to enjoy being active while developing teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship and respect for others.
How We Teach
Physical Education is taught as a specialist subject, with learning experiences designed to progressively develop students’ skills and confidence.
Students participate in activities that may include:
- fundamental movement and ball-handling skills
- fitness, athletics and cross-country
- gymnastics, dance and rhythmic movement
- team games and modified sports
- swimming and water safety
- sporting clinics and school sports days
- interschool and representative sport.
Students learn how to participate safely, follow rules, work collaboratively and demonstrate fairness and respect.
Sport at Lumen Christi
Students have opportunities to participate in a range of individual and team sports throughout the year. These experiences allow students to apply their skills, represent their school and develop positive relationships through physical activity.
Our sporting program may include athletics, cross-country, swimming, basketball, soccer, football, netball, cricket, tennis and other organised sporting activities.
School Sport Victoria
Lumen Christi participates in School Sport Victoria programs and competitions. Eligible students may have opportunities to compete at school and district levels, with successful students progressing to division, regional and state competitions.
