Lumen Christi Catholic Primary School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where every member of our community is treated with dignity. Bullying or harassment of any kind is not tolerated.
What is bullying?
Bullying is repeated unreasonable behaviour directed towards a person that creates a risk to their health and wellbeing. It occurs when an individual or group deliberately hurts, intimidates or excludes another person on more than one occasion, impacting their sense of safety, belonging and self-worth.
Bullying can take many forms, including:
Physical bullying
Unwanted physical contact such as pushing, hitting, shoving or any behaviour intended to cause harm.
Verbal bullying
Hurtful words, name-calling or put-downs, including those related to appearance, ability, culture or background. Racial discrimination is a form of bullying.
Gesture bullying
Non-verbal actions or signals intended to intimidate, threaten or exclude others.
Extortion bullying
Forcing someone to give up possessions, money or participate in inappropriate or rule-breaking behaviour.
Exclusion bullying
Deliberately leaving someone out of activities or social groups.
Visual bullying
Offensive notes, drawings, graffiti or damage to personal belongings.
Sexual bullying
Inappropriate comments, gestures or actions of a sexual nature that make others feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Cyberbullying
The use of digital technologies, including social media, messaging or online platforms, to harm, embarrass or intimidate others.
At Lumen Christi, we actively teach and promote positive relationships, empathy and respectful behaviour, empowering students to make safe and responsible choices both at school and beyond.
